What is ChatGPT Finances?
ChatGPT Finances is a feature that connects your bank and investment accounts to ChatGPT so it can answer questions about your actual money. You get a dashboard with things like spending by category, subscriptions, recurring bills and net worth.
After that you just ask it stuff, like "where am I wasting money?"
How do you connect your bank to ChatGPT?
You connect your bank to ChatGPT through Plaid, which links to thousands of banks and fintech apps. Open Finances in the sidebar, pick your institution and log in through Plaid. OpenAI also added Experian credit scores in September for Plus and Pro users.
What can't ChatGPT Finances do?
ChatGPT Finances is read only:
- It can't move money.
- It can't pay bills.
- It can't make trades.
It doesn't get your full account numbers, and disconnecting Finances removes your connected financial data from ChatGPT. Old chats where you talked about money are managed separately.
Bro. I'd see how much I spend on food delivery and just... close the app.
Is ChatGPT Finances a financial advisor?
No. ChatGPT Finances is a tool that reads your numbers, not a licensed financial advisor. Real talk: read the privacy and data controls settings before you link anything, and double check big decisions with a real human.
So don't fear it. Just use it smart. Like, now.
If you'd rather hear this stuff early than find out the hard way… follow. I got you.
